General Tattoo Aftercare Day of the Tattoo

Keep your tattoo wrapped overnight.

In the morning, remove the film and wash your tattoo. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean towel.

Allow your tattoo to breathe and do not rewrap after.
Following 1–4 weeks, wash your tattoo once or twice a day, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare cream 3–4 times daily.

Please avoid:
  • scratching or picking the tattoo
  • touching it unnecessarily
  • swimming
  • baths or soaking
  • intense exercise for the first 2 weeks
  • direct sun exposure
  • tight clothes, mesh, fishnets, tight leggings or anything else that may stick to the scab, resulting in peeling it prematurely.

Total healing usually takes between 2–4 weeks. Healing time and process vary from person to person.
Please feel free to email me a picture of your healed tattoo — I would love to see it.

Once your tattoo is healed and the scab comes off, please start using sunscreen, especially in the summer, for the best protection of fresh ink.

Second Skin Tattoo Aftercare
Please read carefully and ask any questions before leaving the studio.

Watch a tutorial on how to remove the second skin correctly HERE

Day of the Tattoo
Keep the second skin wrapping on for up to 3 days. During this time, you do not need to do anything else to your tattoo.
Showering is fine, but avoid baths, swimming, or soaking the tattoo.
If the second skin starts peeling off and part of the tattoo becomes exposed on the same day, do not leave only part of the tattoo covered.
If it comes off before the first night, remove the second skin completely. Once home, wash the tattoo with unscented soap, pat dry with a clean towel or kitchen towel, apply a thin layer of aftercare cream, and cover it with clean cling film overnight.
Avoid friction and exercise while the tattoo is fresh.

Following 1–3 Days
Fluid under the second skin is normal and expected. Do not poke it, try to pre-empty it or move it.
If you experience discomfort or the second skin comes off naturally before the third day, clean the tattoo thoroughly, pat dry, and continue with the next stage of aftercare.

Day 4 Onwards
Slowly remove the second skin.
Wash the tattoo thoroughly, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare cream 3–4 times a day.
Total healing usually takes between 2–4 weeks. Healing time varies from person to person.

Blackout Tattoo Aftercare
Please read carefully and ask any questions before leaving the studio.

Day of the Tattoo
Keep the tattoo wrapped for a few hours or for as long as advised.
Wash the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap. Pat dry with paper towels.
Once dry, allow the tattooed area to breathe for 5–10 minutes before putting clothes on.

Following Week
Wash your tattoo once or twice daily. Do not moisturise for the first 2–3 days unless advised otherwise.
Your tattoo may feel warm, appear red, or release some fluid during this time. This is normal.
After the first 2–3 days, wash the area once daily and apply a very thin layer of aftercare cream twice daily.

Following 2–4 Weeks
Continue washing once daily and apply aftercare cream 2–3 times daily.
Keep the tattoo clean and avoid scratching.
Healing time and process vary from person to person.

Questions? If anything feels unusual during healing, please contact me with a clear photo so I can advise you.
